1.3 was awesome but no longer works, neither does 2.0 which saw a redesign and a loss of much needed functionality as well as the quality visual organization of the magazine bookshelf that was present in 1.3... this set the stage for the further loss of function when they merged Magazines and Currents into the now complete rubbish that is Newsstand.

It's Newsstand not Magazines. Magazines v1.3 was the last functional version of Magazines, but it can no longer access Googles services to download content. Newsstand is neither a fully functional news reader or magazine reader. the independent Current and Magazines were fully functional apps.
